Has any one had problems with the Starter Circuit Relay? I found the problem after many months of the engine cutting out, in the wiring harness a badly repaired cable by a previous owner. Now it wont start up from the starter button, but from the solenoid. Going into the starter solenoid are two cables red and white and blue and white, they are both live with the ignition on, this doesn't seem correct, the blue and white one goes to the starter relay.

Check if the single wire exciting the starter soliniod is working?  If it is the problem (ie: you apply voltage and the starter soliniod +wire, and the starter fails to engage) you have a defective soliniod.

If it  turns over there, your problem lies in the loom or most likely the handle bar switch.

It is a process of systematic elimination.

I can start the engine by connecting the two connectors going in to the solenoid and across the two connections to the starter. No power going in to the solenoid. I have continuity from the starter switch on the handlebar. Thanks for your input.
